Hi Monika:

We have had many sightings of not only one but possibly several swans in the area. If the birds can fly, they will go from one area to another looking for food. It may or may not stay overnight, but go into areas that people are feeding it in the daytime and then return to its familiar habitat during the night. Thanks for letting us know that you have seen the swan flying which reinforces our belief that it knows what it is doing and will fend for itself. Capture would be highly unlikely as any bird that is not pinioned or clipped (rendered unable to fly) poses an extremely difficult situation for capture. Usually, if the bird comes injured or sick, then this is the time that a capture can be rendered or when the bird gets so tame that it comes up to people and then it can be caught and moved to a more suitable habitat. Again, he/she will move about its habitat to find an area that is safe from predators, free from noise or other harassment and a good food/water source. The Regal Swan
