Hello,
The pond next to my house has a pair of swan's and 6 babies, about 8 weeks old now, size of grown ducks.
One of the babies has an injured leg. I have seen it, the entire leg and webbing is there, although white in color instead of black. The baby doesn't move it, it is next to the body. The other leg is fine and uses that to paddle around. This young swan stays with the bunch but always about 6-10 feet away from the others. The male parent seems to go and check on this baby when the rest are resting on the shoreline. This young swan can't 'walk' onto the grass and gets right to the edge and stops just out of the water.
Looking for guidance? Local wildlife recue and treatment centers are over packed.
