Hi Delaney:
We are sending the photo to our swan veterinarians. Should you not hear from them in the next few days, we would suggest that you get George to an avian (waterfowl) veterinarian to check and see if this might be a fungal or bacterial infection.
Are you located near University of Tennessee's (Knoxville) Veterinary Medical School? We have worked with Dr. Kelly Fecteau from the veterinary medical school with our swans, specifically hormones, but she might be able to refer you to someone at the veterinary medical school if you cannot find someone on your own. The University has an avian veterinary program so we would suggest that you contact them to ascertain if any other birds in your area may have the same issue. The Regal Swan
