Hi Debra:

Are you in Hartford? We have been contacted about two swans on a lake that you describe. We have heard that one of the swans may have something wrong with its wing.

If they are wild swans and nothing is wrong with them, then they should begin to migrate. If the remaining swan cannot fly, then it will be in danger because if the lake can freeze, it will not be able to eat, may drown or be accessed by a predator. If there are hunters in the area, then this may be another concern as the hunters could accidently shoot it.

If the swan does not leave, it may have to be captured and found a new home. If these are in fact the swans that we have been contacted about, there is a group that is trying to rescue them this weekend. The Regal Swan
