Signet name contest...

Regarding your interest in a new name for the baby swan at Lost Lagoon.

We we're saddened to see that the baby swan's father was killed - either due to illness or stress from the capture with the baby (if someone knows of the details of his demise or knows of the autopsy report, please email me).

Before the father was taken with the baby to have its wing amputated, we got to know the family while it stationed themselves in the marsh area.

Upon approaching the "pond" by the marsh, the father would come out and attempt to go for our arms, legs or shoes. Never felt threatened or hurt, one regular called him "shoey" because it would go for the shoelaces.

We got to call him by this name (as we knew no other at this time), and have continued to think of him with this name. Since the signet came from "shoey", we thought that "huey" would be a nice way to address the nameless baby and yet pay homeage to the father.

We have since being thinking of the baby as huey and would like to suggest this name for your posting.

Sincerely,

Keith Edwards

P.S. I have tried to find out who is connected with this website but only have the name Fiona (ref. to pictures).
Would you let me know if you are employed by the parks board or just interested members of the public . Nice pictures!
