April 29 (Saturday): Isolde adapting to Lost Lagoon
By:Admin
Date: 29 April 2006

Saw Isolde this morning. She is doing well. She went to the water. Tristan was not chasing her too hard. She seems to have a very strong personality; we feel that she will adapt well to the Lagoon, even when Boy and the Big Brother are back (they are presently kept in a shelter for a few days in order to give Isolde a chance to adapt to the Lagoon before they come back and chase her aggressively; they are also getting their medical checkup by Dr MacDonald).

Isolde seemed so happy in the water yesterday afternoon (Tristan allowed her to be in the water for close to an hour). It was the first time in her life that she was in a large body of water. She kept "ducking" under the water, flipping to one side and then to the other, grooming herself, shaking her feathers, stretching her wings, more ducking and more shaking...

We are grateful to the volunteers who kept a discreet watch yesterday and this morning, protecting her from kids with bicycles, dogs, tourists who tried to run after her to take a picture, etc. etc.
