Ask the Swan Specialist

Hi Michael:
If you want to immediately show the young man a video, go to our website (www.theregalswan.com). We have video showcasing several species of swans.
Swans cannot be domesticated like a goose or a duck. They may calm down in the hands of their caretakers (i.e., for veterinary medical exams), but they readily revert back to swan behavior (pecking, clawing and winging)once they are released. We have a couple sites in Florida that we consult and the swans have been handled so much during the course of our veterinary medical exams, that they are accustomed to working with us and will pose for video.
However, in the New York area, there is a waterfowl rehabilitative site (Gooseneck Hill Waterfowl New York). They may be able to work with you for such a film. Good luck. The Regal Swan
