Hi Jana
Swans in captive settings should be fed supplementally daily especially during the winter months. This feeding means at will not just a one or two times dropping the food in the water. The food should be placed in a feeder (there are photos on this website to show how the feeder is placed in the water). The feeder keeps the cracked corn and poultry layer pellets dry and away from other wildlife ensuring that the swan has ample clean food when it wants or needs to eat.. The feeder should be cleaned weekly and any wet food discarded into a bag and disposed properly. Wet food can be moldy which can sicken wildlife. The Regal Swan
