Hi Amy:
Great question. It normally takes a Mute Swan approximately 100 feet for take-off. However, there are many determining factors that must be considered such as the swan species, size and weight of the bird, wind and weather conditions as well as any obstacles in an area such as trees, buildings. etc. Such obstacles and other relevant conditions may greatly extend or decrease the distance necessary for the swan to become airborne.
