I just discovered that a pair of swans live on a nearby property, along with a variety of ducks and geese. I couldn't tell what kind of swans they are. They don't look like mute swans or trumpeters (one is gray and one is white), altho they could still be juveniles. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow and email to you for identification.

They are definitely smaller than adult mutes, with which I am familiar; they may be closer in size to Swany. However, their necks don't look as long or thin as Swany's and their beaks looked different than Swany's in shape and color. Whatever kind of swans they are, I think they may not be mature.

In any case, they completely ignored me although I was standing right outside the wrought iron fencing ; I think that's unusual for adult swans. They were swimming in their pond and didn't open their wings, so I couldn't tell if the wings are pinioned.

Their property is completely walled in (tall wrought iron and stucco fencing) and I don't see how they could get onto my property unless they can fly. But even if this is an adult (mature) pair, wouldn't the male stay with his mate and ignore another female?

I know for a fact that Swany could not get onto that property so the only way they could have "met" would be if one of those swans is an adult male and able to fly over here. Now I'm very concerned that Swany's eggs could be fertilized after all; if that is a possiblity we would have to take measures to ensure they don't hatch.

I'll try to introduce myself to the neighbors tomorrow and get more info about their swans. I'll let you know what I find out.
