Birds can die from blood loss from a broken, bent or cut blood feather, even healthy birds can be affected. You need to capture the swan and get him to an experienced bird veterinarian ASAP. Do Not try to pull the feather out yourself as this could cause bigger problems if you don't get the entire feather out or copious bleeding occurs. The veterinarian will have the proper equipment and medication to stop bleeding from the initial cut or from the removal of the blood feather. Blood feathers carry a lot of blood so this is not something to try and do yourself. The Regal Swan
