I guess I should have been more clear in my first post.

I'm interested in keeping nonnative species of swans, but not Mutes. And I'm not asking about the legal situation, as I know other people who can advise me on that. What I'm interested in is learning - from people such as yourself who know swan biology and management - how to evaluate small ponds in terms of what are good or bad characteristics for them to have so that I can be on the lookout for such as my wife and I search for a new home.

Hoping you and/or others here can help with this...
