We line in northern Ohio and have a 4 month old, pinioned, female trumpeter swan. She is thriving but we wondered if she is or will be lonely. We would like to get a cob in the future, but cannot find one in our area at this time. A local friend has a mute swan, same age, available, but we are hesitant to introduce the two if they will not get along, plus we prefer to have trumpeters. Is there another waterfowl that would be good company for our swan.

Also, she has 2 half acre ponds on 10 acres of land. Should we build winter shelter for her? What dietary supplements will she need for the winter? We can crack/grind our own grains but are unsure of the mix. Thanks
