The pair of swans in my neighborhood were attacked by 2 coyotes 3 nights ago and sadly the female died from her injuries. She was nesting in my neighbors yard. The male was on the nest during the night and she went onto the lake and was caught by surprise coming out of the water and attacked by the coyotes.

This pair of swans have been in our neighborhood for over ten years.

The male seems totally lost now that he is alone.

At what point should we find him another mate and what is the best way to handle this?
