There should be no problem with an all female or an all male swan flock. The female swans will take a mate, nest and act as a family although no fertile eggs will be produced. Male swans will do the same although no eggs will be produced. This scenario does not make the swans any more defensive of their nests or territory than any other swan or waterfowl species.
