Hi Cathy: No this is not something that is normal. We are assuming that you also have a male swan and that they are a mating pair. You might want to check both swans for gender as you may have either two males or two females. Regardless of gender, most swan pairs will mate and nest. Male pairs will build nests and sit on the nests with obviously no eggs. Female pairs will mate, build nests and lay infertile eggs. However, having said this, if both of your swans are female, the females may not lay eggs as this may be an individual attribute.

If you find that the birds are indeed male and female, you may have an older bird that has stopped producing eggs or she may not be able to produce eggs due to a reproductive issue. We hope this information is of benefit. The Regal Swan
