Hi Terra:

It is mating and nesting season. All birds are seeing their reflections in windows, bumpers, hubcaps, car mirrors, etc. If they have not mated, they are trying to woo the reflection because they think that there is a bird in the reflection.

Your swan is territorial. All he knows is that he has a family to protect and he is seeing an outside swan in the reflections. He is going around your house to find the intruder because the intruder keeps popping up in various places. Try to cover windows, bumpers, anything with a reflection for a couple of days until he calms down.

Baby swans are a great food source for just about any predator (large or small) until they are approximately 5-6 months of age. The older/larger cygnets can learn how to protect themselves and are bigger than most hawks, turtles, birds, can eat or hold. However, larger predators, i.e., foxes, alligators, panthers, coyotes, etc., can always pick-up a swan and kill it know matter what the size or age. The Regal Swan
