Newly arrived swans: How long in enclosure before release, and how to protect from big tropical storm

I just received my 2 pairs of black swans that are 8 months old and pinioned. I have then in a large fenced dog run to get acquainted with their new home.
Question: How long do they have to be caged before I can release them on their new home (a 7 acre lake)? Worried about them wondering off the water and getting attacked by predators.
Question 2: We have a big storm coming our way in GA. Should they be caged for the storm or would it better to release a few days before storm to get settled?
Thank you,
Heather
