Hi Heather

You need to keep them in the pen for approximately 2 weeks to acclimate them to the new habitat and you as the caregiver.

As far as the big storm, treat the swans as you would any pet. They need to be brought indoors and if you evacuate, so should they. You can keep them in a large dog carrier lined with towels so they do not injure their legs on a slippery surface. Extreme winds can cause serious injury to their necks, legs or blow them into objects. Any of these can cause death. You CANNOT leave them in the pen on the pond or outside during the storm as this can kill them. The Regal Swan
