Care for wild swans in extended cold weather

I work at a golf course in the St Louis Missouri area. At the beginning of this past summer a pair of white swans (I believe Regal swans) took residence on a pond on the golf course.

With the mild fall/early winter temperatures they seem to be doing well. However, with extended cold weather, which will come, my concern is that the pond will freeze and take their water/food/protection away.

What would be your suggestions for survival or will they be able adapt on their own.

I don't want them to become dependent on human care since there is no permanent resident on the course.

Would you suggest food & water & shelter be provided if possible?
