We have 1 swan in our area, escaped from the pond with 2 others a short distance away. She has not returned and the owner has put up more fencing to keep the others in. How can we tell if it's a male or female and an approximate age? Any signs or markings, without handling the bird. Will swans become lonely and die without a mate? Our neighborhood would like to buy her / him a mate? Any suggestions appreciated or where would we go to start our search in Houston, TX. Any recommendations.
