Hi Jo:
Seems like he has found a great home. However, you might want to let a swan rehabilitation center know that he is in your area. They may be able to rescue him and raise it with other swans. Otherwise, he will begin to imprint and he will never be able to return to the wild because he will be too trusting. Additionally, if he is only the size of a duck, something may have happened to his parents, i.e., predator (man, domestic or wild) and he is left to fend for himself. He may have even been stolen from his parents and dropped off. In any case, he may not have the street smarts to protect himself from predators and could get killed from raccoons, foxes, minks, people, dogs, cats, etc. So, the best thing for him would be to be raised in a swan environment so he learns how to become a swan. Good luck. The Regal Swan
