Hi Amber:

This swan obviously has been fed by humans or it would not let you get that close. It is probably a juvenile swan that was dispatched from its habitat by parents getting ready to mate and nest for the spring season. Or, he/she may have been blown off the migratory path and landed on your pond to relax before traveling further. In any case, if the swan allows you to feed it lettuce, cracked corn and poultry layer pellets, it may stay at your pond and another swan (opposite gender) may find it and settle into your pond as their new habitat. Good luck. The Regal Swan
