Mute swan without a mate: Is it better to remove the eggs?

This particular swan is at least a ten year resident of a local pond. She has created a nest and has laid 8 eggs which have not been fertilized, as she has no mate. Wondering whether she will abandon the eggs in due course or whether it is better to remove the eggs for her.
