How old is the swan? How did his mate die? Most male swans will go through life single once their mate dies. If you choose to get him another mate, consider his age, if there is a possibility that he or the new swan can die in the same way as his mate and if you need a permit from your State Fish & Game Commission to get another swan. Not all swans will take to another swan and one or both could get seriously hurt or killed from fighting.

Swans kept in a humane captive setting, provided supplemental food and veterinary medical care can live as long as 30 years. The Regal Swan
