Precious and Marlika took the cygnet out for the first time, in the lagoon - but only along the shore past the wetlands side. They were in the water by the path right between the first two little islands on that side.

Two mallard ducks were very close to the little family, and I was surprised to see mom just ignore them. They came even closer, then suddenly decided to wage a duck naval battle, right beside our happy little cygnet. Hoarse QUAAAAAAACKs, wings beating, feathers flying, and a mini tsunami splashing all over the little one. Precious and Marlika sat there like two swan statues, just looking at the turmoil. Little cygnet was insulted by such coarse behavior in his space, and as soon as the ducks flew off, he reared up (for all the world just like Precious) in the water, shook himself off from the unexpected shower, then extended his tiny little "wing buds" flapping them in that way Precious has, that says, "Don't mess with me, you miserable ducks!" THAT's entertainment!!
