Swans Through the Seasons

In Response To: A Young Swan's Growing! (Bijan's Endless Neck)

Bijan (Lost Lagoon’s 2006 cygnet, now 14 months old) continues to grow in size and we wonder if he just might make the Guinness Book of Records for swan-with-the-longest-neck!

He’s still the same explorer as in his cygnet days, but he’s not yet as bold as the other young swans, and has chosen a couple of special corners where he likes to get away from it all, and watch Genghis Swan chasing all the youngsters from afar instead of being part of the action!

We had a surprise one fine July day when he ventured to join his parents (separated from him last spring) snacking in the Lagoon, and the three of them were joined by the little Ambleside swan – the same one “adopted” by Precious and Marlika for a while, following their arrival at Lost Lagoon last September.

The surprise was NOT seeing one or both of the parents vigorously peck and chase the youngsters away! Eventually they went their separate ways, but what fun to see the little “family” together for a brief few moments once again.
