Pinioning wings of cygnets
I just read this in a previous post (If you must pinion an older cygnet or swan, it must be done under anesthesia by a certified veterinarian with expertise in pinioning of waterfowl.) Are you saying that they can be pinioned without anesthesia if they are between 1 - 3 weeks old? I'm searching for a vet in the area that will do this - in the hopes my pair have cygnets. The breeder will come to the pond to do it himself but I have to assume he won't be using anesthesia. I was searching for a vet just to be safer and obviously more humane.
Thanks,
Carol
