De-icers for the Swans' Winter Habitat
By:The Regal Swan
Date: 11 September 2013

Hi Everyone:

It is that time of the year when we all need to be thinking about the winter habitat for the swans. Frozen ponds and lakes can be deadly for swans as they cannot access food sources, bathe, drink water or escape predators. A frozen body of water is an invitation for a predator to climb out onto the ice and capture a swan which cannot walk on the ice or fly away.

It is for this reason that de-icers are critical for the swan habitat. Before the weather takes a turn for the worse, maintenance check-ups and repair or placement of de-icers on the habitat's body of water should be completed prior to the winter chill. If you need a de-icer for your pond or lake, or need expert assistance in maintaining or repairing your de-icer, please contact Sue Cruz at (www.vertexwaterfeatures.com) or 1-800-432-4302. Your swans will think you for taking care of their winter habitat. The Regal Swan
