In Response To: Winter care for a mute swan when river freezes over during many months. What type of shelter? (Lucy)

Thank you for your help. What do we do if he is still there this winter? The Illinois River often freezes over for a good portion of the season. If they don't like a box with a lid, what other kind of shelter would you suggest we provide him? If he is still here we want to do whatever we can to keep him fed and safe.
