In our boat basin a single cygnet was born to a couple in May. The male is now cornering the 4 month old in a section of the basin and attacking him - quite violently. Is this normal fledging or will the make kill the 4 month old? Is there anything we can do? There are lagoons behind us with other swans but we don;t know how we would move the young swan. It is very distressing to watch after seeing the three of them over the summer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

And could you also tell me if this young swan who is about 4 months old at the end of August can survive a Toronto winter away from his parents? with thanks. MJ
