Hi John:
We have not had much success with floating nests. Just because they are placed in an area, does not necessarily mean that the swans will use them. Extreme weather conditions, (i.e., hurricanes, drought and flooding) also make nesting boxes difficult to install and maintain.
We do know that a company (Knox Swans) in Indiana uses swans to repel geese as well as offer nesting boxes. You might want to contact them.
On another note, people state that swans get rid of Canada geese. We do not have this problem in Florida so we could not advise you on this issue either. The swans in Florida are in areas which we consult and cities have placed ornamental geese, i.e., African, Egyptian, Barnacle and a few Canada Geese. In these habitats, the swans do not bother the geese and everyone gets along around feeders and nesting areas. So, please try the folks at Knox Swans and they may be able to help you with your situation. The Regal Swan
