Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Moving juvenile swan (Pam A)

There are a pair of mute swans on our pond, which is about an acre.
They mated last year, and only one cygnet survived.
They managed to weather the horrible winter, but now that the adult pair is mating, the male is attacking the juvenile who has lost most of his grey color.
Will they work this out so that the juvenile stays away? Or is there danger that the adult male will kill the juvenile?
If we must remove the juvenile from the pond, there is another smaller pond that we could take him to. What is the best way to catch him and transport to the other pond?
Thank you,
Pam
