Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Removed swan (Jody Olson)

We have had to remove our 7 year old male Mute swan with pinioned wings to a smaller lake as a pair of wild swans came to our lake and have attempted to kill Mac. We are considering buying a female Mute for him as he has never had a mate. Do we have to be concerned about him accepting a female or does Nature take its course. Also there is another pair on a close lake. If we move them together for the Winter with an aerator, will we have a problem with the males fighting?
