In Response To: How to assist amputated swan with artificial leg to walk again (Fiona)

Hi there,

We live about 45 minutes south of Johannesburg, South Africa. We bought a house a couple of years ago that came with two black swans, Romeo and Juliet. Both have had their wings clipped.

Romeo has had to undergo an amputation three months ago and we now have a 3d printed leg (made out of light weight plastic) for him which is attached by plastic clamps.

Now the issue is to get Romeo up and walking again. We put him in one of three ponds for him to swim to get the muscles going on both legs as he has not been walking since the amputation. Do you have any suggestions as to how we can assist Romeo to walk on the ground again ?
