Most swans are sitting on nests or staying nearby the nest with their new hatchlings. It is for this reason that you may not be seeing as many swans in the area as well as that some may have decided to nest and initially raise their young in other areas. This is not to say that the swans will not ever return to your area. It just may be a little longer until their young get a little bigger to explore surrounding areas. The Regal Swan
