In Response To: Re: Swans noise at night (The Regal Swan)

Hi John

Yes, this is mating season for the swans. Habitat and mate defense is constant. The swans are jockeying for prime nesting areas. If they are juveniles vying for a mate for the first time, chasing and vocalizations are all part of the process. Once nesting begins, the males' hormone levels will settle as well as the noise and activity at night.

If there are predators in the area, vocalizations and escape will also add to the noise. If everything looks normal, no feathers, carcasses, etc., during the day, then it is usually the mating season that is the cause for the activity which can also occur during daytime. The Regal Swan
