In Response To: Black Swan habitat where to build nest (Marie)

We have welcomed black swans to our 30-acre lake in a private community. In the past they have laid their eggs in a large nest built in our yard but every night they leave the nest and raccoons get the eggs.

We would like to develop a habitat on our lake for them to build their nest, can you tell me what we should aim for. We have one small area where some reeds are growing but it isn't really shallow enough for a nest to be built.

What do the black swans in other parks do?
