Hi-A new black swan has arrived on our small lake.

He seems to be alone. When we were walking our dogs, our 80lb border collie spaniel spotted the swan close to shore and was curious. She swam in toward the swan.

The swan seemed to want to make friends and allowed our dog to come very close to it in the water. It showed no aggression, hiding or any hostile behavior.

Is this normal behavior for a black swan?
