Care of swans during the winter (frozen pond, shelter, food)

I have a few questions regarding our swans we have. We have 1 male & 1 female approximately 3yrs. old. We bought them this past spring, I believe they are mute. They are on our pond and we have a running creek beside it. I have been feeding them shelled corn and bread. What else do they eat?

How do we care for them now that winter is here? Our pond is froze over (we live in PA.)

My husband just built them a swan house (looks like a big dog house) and he cut openings on both ends so they can go in one end and out the other end should a preditor try to get them. He also built them a floating island this summer in the middle of the pond of which they love to sit on during the warm weather, there was no island for them before he built one out of wood and has it anchored down. I would like to get them to go into their new swan house and I have put a trail of corn leading from the bank/pond to it but, I know they aren't use to this strange object being there. We were told to use grass or hay for their bedding. Any ideas as to how I can get them to go inside their house for protection from the cold, wind, snow, rain, heat etc??? They are pretty friendly swans but, the male is alittle agressive. They listen to my voice & talk to me and come to me when I call their names and they look for me when it's their feeding time. Anything you can tell us would be of great help. Thank you. Patty
