Hi Stacia
Any new addition to a swan's habitat could be disruptive. However, we have consulted with many habitats that have or have placed aerators (fountains and bubblers) into a swan habitat with no problems. If you can get the aerator placed prior to the swan's arrival in the spring, this may be the better option. If this placement is not conducive to inclement weather, the you can still add the aerator when swans are actually on the pond, but make the addition before nesting season so the swans get acclimated. This will allow them to be comfortable taking the cygnets around the bubbles and aerator. You must ensure that no wires, cables or rope to entangle the swans are accessible to the swans. You might contact Vertex Water Features as they have place aerators in swan habitats. The Regal Swan
