Hey! It's Earlene in Mississippi again! Hope everything has been going well for you. I still have my two rescued swans. They r doing very well. Mean as hornets right now since they r mating. I take their eggs every year so we will not have any babies. Not initially but after I believe she has stopped laying. We enjoy they immencily but give them a wide birth right now. Got a question for u, please. I was given 3 female Muscovy ducks. Two are green and white and one all white. The swans hate the white duck. Especially during this mating Season. Our male will go on a dead run to capture that white duck and do his very best to drown it. Beats his poor little head till is bloody. I have caught the white Muscovy and put in a separate pen till the drama is over. He is somewhat agressive towards those 3 when it's not mating season but he truly wants to kill the white one. He rarely picks on the green girls. Have u got any ideas about this? Again, the ducks are all girls. They were hand raised by a child that was mentally challenged. Her parents gave them to me because they kept laying eggs n their horse barn with the hay.

If I wait a month or more and put the white female back in the lake with the swans Gus will hardly notice. Just every once in a while during the year he going to chase them. The white duck has learned to just go limp like Gus has killed him and Gus will get off and go elsewhere leaving the duck to scramble to the bank. I am afraid for the duck and moved him. He beats him up pretty bad. This is the second year this has happened. Just wondered if u could tell me why he picks on these three. I have 30 ducks. Some there b4 the swans and some raised after the swans came. Mallards, Peking, cayuga, magpies, 1 buff oppington and some mixed breeds people didn't want.
