Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Egg covered with water (Betty)

My swans have for two years lost their eggs due to one flooding of their nest and drastic temperature drop. Eggs were rotten. Yesterday she laid her 1st egg this season and it poured last night leaving the egg under water. If I left the one egg in the nest and brought the other eggs to my house as she lays them this week, build the nest up more which she will accept, and return the eggs after the last is laid, would that be ok since incubation doesn't occur until all eggs are laid? My house temp is 76 degrees. Both pen and cob are gentle and will let me work on the nest. Thank you. Betty
