In Response To: Swan with swollen leg (Betty Callahan)

My 6 year old male Trumpeter swan cannot walk because of an extremely swollen leg. I took him to an Avian Vet, but she does not seem to be able to find a cause. We removed his band,as it was on the injured leg. There is no sign of injury on the foot or leg. He is on an anti inflamatory and antibiotic-has been for 10 days, but still unable to support himself.I help him try to walk several times a day by holding him up with a beach towel as a sling. I am keeping him in our garage to keep him clean, dry and medicated. He eats, drinks and poops a lot and has no trouble holding his head up. Any suggestions?
