We are sorry for your loss and the beauty of a swan in such a situation only makes it more special. Yes, swans will go out to sea if they are on the migratory path and may stop to rest from the flight. Once rested, they will get their wits about them and continue to wherever they were headed for the new breeding season. Swans cannot stay for too long in salty waters as they cannot filter the salt from the water. So, more than likely, the swan was taking a break and also trying to cool off before continuing on its trek. The Regal Swan
