Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: One swan now gone (Debra)

Hi, I live in the USA, in Conecticut, and have loved watching two swans on a large dammed lake in Mansfield Hollow Park. It's cold now and the lake is starting to form ice. We noticed that one swan is gone and the other by itself or with a flotilla of ducks on occasion. The field we walk through is, unfortunately, across from a hunting area.

We don't know what happened to the swan but are concerned for the other one who is now alone. Will it find friends somewhere else? Can a lone swan survive? Is there something we should be doing? Thank you so much, Debra
