Hi, I find this so sad, we have had a pair of swans for 9 years, mum has given us many signets at least 8 a year, this year expecting her to bring them round as she normally does this time of year, she has appeared with dad, no cygnets, followed by this new female, I had noticed dad being friendly with the female, I thought it was because mum was sitting, I was horrified when mum was chased off by the other female, it happened again today, this time the male joined in, wings fluffed up, mum left, came back later on her own to be fed, this means, I take it she has been replaced and no cygnets this year?, I don't understand what has happened? they've nested in the same place every year, were there no eggs laid? very sad, could you give an explanation for this as I always thought swans mated for life?
kind Regards
Jenny
