In Response To: Death of a female / what to do? (Cheri)

Hello,

We are new to swans and recently purchased property that included them. We have been here three months with no issues and we woke up to our female floating this morning. We had noticed that she was a bit lame when she came on land but swam just fine. Her webbing on her foot had been split at some time. They seemed to be nesting and the male is very protective and guarding of her. We had a hard time removing her. My son told me after the fact that she had not come in to feed for two days.

So my question is what do I do now? Look for a female or let him just be alone. I do not know his age.
