Hi Shannon:

We would suggest that they prefer shallow habitats more than deeper due to the accessiblity of food sources in the muck. If the water is too deep, they cannot get to the aquatic vegetation which is a major sustenance for them. Additionally, they need reeds and grasses found in shallow areas for nesting and caring for their young. The Regal Swan
