I have a 5 acre pond in southern California. About 2 years ago we were gifted with a Mute Swan. our one Swan appears to be healthy. In addition to the vegetation growth in our pond the Swan is provided each day with 2 cups of "lay pellets" to eat. Last week we were gifted with 3 more adult size Swans and we now have 2 males and 2 females. I'm concerned during this winter period there may not be enough vegetation available to sustain all 4 Swans.
How can I tell if they are getting enough to eat?
The 3 additions have not yet found the lay pellet feeding trough.
Any suggestions?
